Additional Info
IU’s world-renowned faculty and compelling course offerings are the main draw of Mini University for adults of all ages (IU alumni and non-alumni alike). Attendees are able to take part in this intensely IU experience—all without the demands of homework or the dreaded pop quiz. Many participants say the social bonds and sense of community are also reasons they return every year.
Once ranked by Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel as one of the best learning vacations in the country, Mini University was conceived in 1972 by IU alumni Frank Jones and Jim Hertling. Over the years, participant feedback has continuously improved the program; a 2012 article in the Journal of Teaching and Education recognized this commitment as a mainstay of IU’s Mini U success. Now more than 50 years later, Mini U remains a driving force for adult learning—proof that the IU education doesn’t have to end at graduation.
