Now is the time to invest in the visual arts.

Artists, designers, educators, historians, and art therapists solve problems, engage communities, and enhance quality of life. These creative professionals use their voices and actions to encourage critical dialogue and offer new perspectives on social issues, including equity, inclusion, and diversity.

By making a gift to Herron's general fund, you can be confident that you play an important role in Herron's ongoing work to support the arts, artists, and art professionals.

With your help, Herron can continue to:

  • Provide excellent facilities, technology, and equipment to students, faculty, and visitors
  • Recruit and retain diverse students from around the world
  • Award scholarships, fellowship opportunities, and international experiences to students
  • Provide students with real-life professional practice and public art opportunities
  • Engage with alumni and community leaders
  • Offer exceptional gallery exhibitions and visiting-artist talks that are open and free to the public
  • Increase faculty research, creative activity, and cross-disciplinary collaborations
  • Expand experiences for youth and adults involved in Herron’s community learning programs

Thank you for supporting Herron students, faculty, and alumni as they strive to make the world a better place!

John Herron Society

Gifts of $1,000 or more to the Herron School of Art General Fund will qualify donors for the John Herron Society. The John Herron Society is a fitting tribute to the school's first benefactor, whose charitable gift created the John Herron Institute through a bequest made in 1895.

Established in 2002, during Herron's centennial year, the John Herron Society continues to celebrate Herron's philanthropic spirit and acknowledges annual, unrestricted gifts of $1,000 or more. As the school's leadership giving group, the John Herron Society plays a critical role in helping the school continue its important academic mission and outreach to the community.

Herron provided me an enduring creative foundation for a future in the visual arts. A faculty of dedicated practicing artists and designers, and fellow student travelers combined to create the best four years of my young adult life. Herron became the model for my own start and 40-year tenure in visual arts higher education and creative practice. My support for Herron goes without saying.
