Indiana University South Bend is a significant engine for social mobility and talent retention in northern Indiana.

  • Approximately 65 percent of IU South Bend graduates remain in the region after graduation.

We strive to foster community talent retention and increase “brain remain” by connecting students with local internship opportunities. We also know that internships provide students with a vital bridge between college and the world of work. However, many students cannot pursue internships—one of the most effective recruiting tools for employers—due to financial constraints. Increasing funding availability for students in unpaid internships will ensure greater participant diversity, access, and opportunity.
