The Groups Scholars Program is committed to creating opportunities and providing comprehensive support for first-generation and underrepresented students.

Launched at IU South Bend in Summer 2023, the program is designed to support students throughout their journey toward earning a bachelor’s degree. The program seeks individuals who demonstrate a positive attitude, strong civility, perseverance, motivation to succeed, and a deep commitment to earning a college degree. Students selected to the program receive enhanced academic, financial, and social support, beginning with a pre-enrollment summer program and continuing through ongoing engagement throughout their college experience.

Here's where you come in. Your generous gift will provide scholarship support for the dedicated, hard-working students in the IU South Bend Groups Scholars Program. The impact of these scholarships is profound: The program's first cohort saw a 27 percent increase in retention rates compared to students not enrolled in the Groups Scholars Program. In addition, its participants are among the most engaged student groups on campus, actively participating in academic and extracurricular activities.
