Additional Info
The Franklin D. Schurz Library is home to wonderful collections, services, and spaces. It contains thousands of books, government documents, journals, and audio/visual recordings, as well as the University Archives and Special Collections. The library also subscribes to a huge number of databases, which provide access to full-text journal and newspaper articles, plus a wide-ranging selection of e-books and streaming media titles.
Nearly all of these online resources are accessible off-campus via the library website. And because the Schurz Library is part of the larger IU Libraries system, patrons can quickly request materials from the other IU Libraries using IUCAT or—outside the IU system—interlibrary loan.
The Franklin D. Schurz Library Fund supports the library’s operations, collections, programs, and services, including initiatives such as:
- The Library Prize for Undergraduate Research
- Purchase of the South Bend Tribune digital archive
- Free coffee and snacks for students during finals week
- The Open Educational Resource award, which encourages faculty to create an OER to replace course textbooks (OERs contribute to student success!)
Thank you for your generous support of this vital resource for our campus.
