The Department of Psychiatry offers educational programs for medical students, neuroscientists, psychiatry residents, psychology interns, and post-doctoral fellows. Programs cover child, adolescent, and adult psychiatric and psychological care.
The department is advancing research to uncover brain and behavioral disorder mechanisms and introduce new treatments. It is making discoveries in psychiatric and psychological disorders, including: child and adolescent disorders; schizophrenia and psychotic disorders; alcohol and substance-use disorders; and mood and anxiety disorders. Moreover, the department is committed to improving precision medicine in psychiatry by developing and enhancing diagnostics and therapies for psychiatric and related disorders. Experts conduct novel behavioral and lifestyle interventions for patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and cognitive aging.
