Latino Philanthropy Circle Initiatives Fund

Affinity Giving

On most IU campuses, Latino student enrollment has more than doubled in the past decade. Programs like the Presidential Diversity Hiring Initiative have also boosted the percentage of Hispanic and Latino faculty at IU.

But nationwide trends tell us there are still significant barriers to college access, degree attainment, and economic advancement for the Latino community. We are committed to addressing these issues, and we invite you to join us.

Additional Info

The growth of IU’s Latino community is encouraging. IU Northwest has even been federally designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. But the story doesn’t end when a student enrolls.

Latino college students are more likely than other groups to be first-generation students, and they’re less likely to leave college with a degree. And while Latinos are the most participating group in the U.S. workforce, by percentage of their population, they are overrepresented in low-paying jobs.

These are big challenges, but not insurmountable. The Latino Philanthropy Circle brings together donors who are passionate about uplifting the Latino community, so that we can have a greater collective impact across IU and the many communities impacted by IU.

Your gift can help fund priorities including, but not limited to:

  • Helping IU’s Latino students earn their degrees and feel a sense of belonging through scholarships and a variety of supportive programming
  • Celebrating Latino pride and traditions through cultural experiences and events
  • Educating, inspiring, and engaging our Latino communities and allies by bringing in speakers, ambassadors, and more

With your support, we can do so much more to improve recruitment, retention, and opportunity for Latino students, faculty, and staff at IU.

Let’s help close the gap between aspiration and achievement. Let’s serve our community right where they are. Our united investment in the Latino community is a powerful force for good. Please make a gift today!

Your giving matters

As a proud Latina alumna of IU, I am honored to join the Latino Philanthropy Circle as a founder. This initiative empowers us to invest in the university that has nurtured my success and ensure that current and future IU Latino students, faculty, and staff have expanded access to even more opportunities than I had.
