True to her philanthropic nature and desire to care for and help students in need, Marilyn Watkins started the “Red Wolf Student Support Fund” through the IU Foundation. This fund is utilized at the discretion of the IU East Dean of Students for students who are struggling to complete a course or a semester due to financial stress or constraints. The Dean of Students has the ability to use this fund as a tool to help students in need overcome a financial obstacle that may keep them from finishing a semester and therefore earning their degree.

When Watkins retired from IU East, her colleagues raised money for this fund to have it renamed in her honor to the Marilyn Watkins Red Wolf Student Support Fund.

We hope you'll join us in supporting IU East students!

Your giving matters

When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted my life, I was left without a job and no way to pay for rent, my car payment, insurance, or other bills. I visited the Dean of Students and she informed me of the Marilyn Watkins Fund. I was able to receive enough money to cover my rent and bills for a few months, while trying to secure a job. I was very thankful for this support because without it I would’ve ended up on the streets.
