Additional Info
Founded in the 1950s, the Victorian Studies Program at Indiana University Bloomington was among the United States’ first interdisciplinary ventures in the humanities. Beyond its academic program, the Victorian Studies Program also features a leading scholarly journal of the humanities, Victorian Studies, which is edited by faculty and graduate students at IU.
The program runs a graduate curriculum with a PhD minor and a graduate certificate. It also sponsors an academic speaker series and professional events for graduate students, as well as an annual, one-semester fellowship for a graduate student writing a dissertation in the field of Victorian studies.
The journal Victorian Studies publishes leading work in the field (new in its methodology, frameworks, and materials) as well as reviews of recent scholarly books from a range of academic disciplines. The journal is run by IU faculty, and its several graduate student editors gain unparalleled knowledge of the field and valuable editing and management skills. The journal also offers semester-long internships to IU undergraduates and provides them with valuable training in the activities, software, and organizational tasks involved in running a publishing office.

Your giving matters
The two years I spent working at Victorian Studies, first as editorial assistant and then as managing editor, were without doubt the most exciting, intellectually engaging, and rewarding of my graduate education. Over twenty years later, I still feel lucky.
