The Greatest Need fund allows the O’Neill School to continue to excel. This fund provides operational support in a variety of important areas at the O'Neill School on both the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses. As the name suggests, innovative ideas that require funding or unexpected needs that arise can be met through gifts to this fund.

The Greatest Need fund can provide start-up resources for new events or activities in O’Neill. When a group of alumnae approached the school about hosting a Women’s Empowerment Summit, this fund helped provide the initial finances to hold the event. The Women’s Empowerment Summit is now a biennial event thanks to generous support and encouragement from students and alumni. In a similar way, the Greatest Need fund also helped support the inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Conference in 2020, which is also now an annual school-wide event.

The fund can also help to fill in the financial gaps of ongoing programs. When the O’Neill School gathers for the Capitol Hill Colloquium, resources from the Greatest Need fund help cover costs, such as reception expenses for our Washington Leadership Program students and guests. In addition, students who have gaps in their internship funding or study abroad expenses can receive support from this fund, helping to provide an educational experience for them that otherwise might not occur.
