Additional Info
One promising way to combat recidivism is through mentoring, a research-backed method to reduce juvenile crime rates and re-offending. HOPE Mentoring pairs incarcerated juveniles with college mentors who will support the young person in their efforts to avoid recidivism by obtaining and maintaining employment. Mentors also help their mentees look for educational opportunities, explore various paths for their future, and serve as a positive, encouraging role model to instill hope in their future.
Thank you for your generous support of this important, community-shaping work!
Your giving matters
Supporting and working alongside youth has always been a passion of mine, and the opportunity to support incarcerated youth is a unique experience that has guided my career and research. Currently, I've mentored five youth personally and helped support over 50 mentors with mentees of their own. HOPE Mentoring has a special place in my heart as an opportunity that went from a 'resume filler' to a guiding light in my life.
