About the images:
The 1903 IU map was drawn by Charles Ray Binford, a 1932 graduate. He served as an editorial assistant on the 1930 Arbutus yearbook. According to Indiana University Alumni Quarterly, the wall map was sold for 50 cents, including postage.
The young women outside of Smithwood Hall appeared in the October 1956 edition of the Indiana Alumni Magazine. (L to R on left side of sign) Melinda Priest (Crawfordsville), Joyce Slavens (Crawfordsville), Sandy Moore (Evansville), and Noreen Russel (Gary). Sophomore Lynn O'Neill (Logansport) at far right.
I love reading diaries and scrapbooks from the early 20th century! It’s so interesting to see daily college life and how students of the past viewed IU.
