Additional Info
The Civic Leaders Center (CLC) is a living-learning community for incoming first-year students of all majors with a passion for civic engagement and leading for the greater good. Students and their peer mentors live together in Briscoe Residence Center, learn with one another, and develop new leadership skills—all while forming connections that will last a lifetime!
Students in the Civic Leaders Center start to develop their leadership skills right away through one of the CLC’s leadership committees, such as the recruitment committee or the service committee. All students also attend a regular evening seminar series and have opportunities to be mentored by upperclassmen. Students leave the CLC well-equipped to take advantage of leadership positions at IU and beyond. CLC alumni have gone on to serve in IU Student Government, hold competitive internships in places like Washington, D.C., and receive prestigious honors including Fulbright Awards and Marshall Scholarships.
In addition, CLC students have unique opportunities to volunteer in the Bloomington community, attend a fall break trip to Washington, D.C., and participate in a study abroad course in Greece.
Your donations to the Civic Leaders Living-Learning Center Fund help foster an impactful first year for students. Through the support of CLC alumni and friends, future students can continue to participate in life-changing learning as they seek to develop leadership skills for the greater good!
