The Kinsey Institute is a dynamic, interdisciplinary research center and archival collection. Our mission is to foster and promote a greater understanding of human sexuality and relationships through world-renowned research, historical preservation, and education programs exploring sexuality, relationships, and well-being.
Research at the Kinsey Institute seeks to illuminate the most intimate and formative aspects of our lives. Developments in fields ranging from neuroscience and psychology to biology and gender studies inform questions asked by our scientists. Our research addresses pressing issues ranging from preventing sexual assault to investigating the effects of aging on sexuality to exploring ways to improve the sexual experience for persons with disabilities.
The Kinsey Institute Library & Special Collections encompass over 700,000 items, including print materials, film and video, fine art, artifacts, photography, and archives collected from six continents and spanning more than 2,000 years of human history. These items provide an unequalled resource for scholars and scientists that we are proud to steward and preserve.
