IU South Bend’s Latine student population has grown greatly in recent years. Help us support these talented students by making a gift this IU Day to the Sueño Endowed Scholarship.

Established in 2006, the Sueño Endowed Scholarship means dream, or in this case the dream of a college education. The scholarship was imagined by Jorge Marín, MBA’ 01. As a student Jorge relied on scholarships and grants to fund his education. Upon graduation, he was grateful and wanted to give back. He joined the alumni board and served on the scholarship committee where he was critical in developing the Sueño Endowed Scholarship.

The Sueño Endowed Scholarship supports undergraduate and graduate scholarships at IU South Bend.  This endowment will generate income to be given to students in the form of scholarships, but the principal will never be expended. The scholarship is open to students of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds, with a preference given to Hispanic students.

IU South Bend values and supports higher education for our Latine students. We currently provide two $1,000 scholarships annually and want to expand awards to more students going forward.

Marisol Carmona, BS ’22 (Health Sciences) received this scholarship in 2021. When asked about the award she said:

"It made my campus experience so much better and thrilling because I didn’t have to worry as much about finances and was able to join the IU South Bend’s Women’s Soccer team. I am grateful for this scholarship to help me pursue my dreams and set an example for my 5-year-old son. It made my studies more interesting when working with peers because everyone had their own challenges and when I shared my story I was viewed as a Warrior. Most of my peers recognized how hard school can be and saw me fight the obstacles while being a full-time student, an IU Athlete, and a single mother.  I am forever grateful to every single person who has invested in and supported me in my education to be able to achieve my goals.”

Marisol is currently a prenatal care coordinator in Elkhart.

Please join IU South Bend in growing our scholarship opportunities for current and future Titans!
