IU School of Optometry 75th Anniversary Class Challenge

The IU School of Optometry is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year! We invite alumni and friends to invest in the next generation of optometrists by participating in the 75th Anniversary Class Challenge. This includes making a gift here toward the IU School of Optometry Alumni Scholarship, or to another IUSO Fund that is important to you.

Today's optometry students are tomorrow's eye care leaders. They will diagnose disease, restore vision, advance research, and improve the lives of patients for many years to come. But before they can begin making that impact, they must first overcome one of the greatest challenges facing professional students today: the cost of their education.

Approximately 80% of IU School of Optometry students graduate with educational debt, averaging nearly $200,000. For many talented students, the financial commitment required to pursue an optometry degree can be daunting.

The IU School of Optometry Alumni Scholarship helps change that. Created through the generosity of alumni, this endowed scholarship provides financial support to incoming IUSO students, making their IUSO education more affordable from day one.

As we celebrate the IU School of Optometry’s 75th Anniversary, we are inviting every alumnus to participate in the 75th Anniversary Class Challenge. From now until the 75th Anniversary Gala on October 9, gifts to the Alumni Scholarship will be tracked by class, with recognition for both total dollars raised and class participation. Every gift helps your class move up the leaderboard, while making a meaningful difference for future students.

Have another area of IUSO that is especially meaningful to you? We encourage you to support the scholarship, program, or area that reflects your passion. Gifts made to any IU School of Optometry fund through December 31 will count toward your class’s overall participation totals.
