Give Care to Children in Kenya at Amani Shelter & Beyond

By School of Medicine Department of Medicine

Your gift provides safety, care, and hope for an orphaned child at AMPATH’s Amani Shelter - one example of the critical programs made possible by AMPATH.

More Info

The AMPATH Kenya Operating Fund provides flexible funds to support critical operations and fill gaps. Your generosity ensures that places like the Amani Shelter can continue to provide a sanctuary of "Amani"—peace—for those who have lost everything.

For over 20 years, Amani Shelter has been a refuge for children living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, as well as those who lack stable housing. Staff work with County officials to place children in long-term family or institutional homes when possible, though many remain for extended periods of time.

Today, twelve children of various ages call Amani home. However, their future is at a crossroads:

  • Your gift could help bridge the gap: Recent cutbacks in Government funding have drastically reduced the support available for the shelter’s daily operations.
  • Your gift can help keep the doors open: It costs approximately $120,000 annually to run the shelter. Your gift helps fund the essentials: nutritious meals, rent, utilities, school fees, and much more.
  • You gift could provide care: Your contribution helps sustain the salaries of dedicated staff who provide the 24/7 emotional support and stability of these children.

Beyond the Shelter
The Amani Shelter is a powerful example of how the AMPATH Kenya Operating Fund works. By supporting this fund, you provide the flexible resources necessary to fill urgent gaps and create innovations that respond to children in crisis without interruption.
