As we mark the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Accords with our McCloskey Forum: Symposium "Dayton Bosnia: The Last 30 Years, and the Next 30,” we honor a pivotal moment in global diplomacy—and the enduring legacy of Congressman Frank McCloskey. The vision of McCloskey, a tireless advocate for peace and democracy in the Balkans, lives on through the McCloskey Fund, which supports a biennial student exchange between Indiana University and institutions in the former Yugoslavia.
Join us in marking the 30th anniversary of this momentous agreement and help us continue our mission.
Support the McCloskey Fund and invest in a future shaped by dialogue, diplomacy, and democratic ideals.
In the words of Emma Carlson, REEI MA Student: "During one class [in Sarajevo] my instructor talked at length about Frank McCloskey and the bridge in Sarajevo named after him. I was impressed by how much she knew about him, which I think speaks to the role that he played in Bosnia during the 1990s.”
The Congressman McCloskey Bridge in Sarajevo, captured in 2025 by REEI student Emma Carlson, honors U.S. Rep. Frank McCloskey’s legacy of advocacy for peace during the Bosnian conflict.
Voices of Our Students
