Student teachers lay the foundation for a brighter, more enlightened future through their power to shape students’ minds and ignite a passion for learning. Some School of Education students, especially those who are already under-resourced, struggle to pay for the extra costs associated with their teacher preparation, such as background checks, CPR training, testing fees, and the cost of travel to their service learning.

The Undergraduate Teacher Preparation Scholarship helps juniors and seniors who are student teaching offset the costs related to their field experiences, so they can complete class requirements and engage in their learning with as few barriers as possible. Your generous gift this IU Day helps our future educators stay on track to achieve their dreams.

The first $5,000 in contributions to this fund will be matched thanks to the generosity of donors Gene and Kathy Jongsma, who have pledged to match all gifts, dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000. Also, any donation up to $500 made by a first-time donor to IU will be matched dollar‑for‑dollar (while funds remain), with the match going directly to the same fund you choose. Plus, ten first-time donors will be randomly selected to direct an additional $1,000 to the fund of your choice at IU. This is a rare opportunity to double, or even triple, your impact!
