Basic Needs. Boundless Potential. Help Fuel the Future on IU Day!

By Indiana University East General

On IU Day, help remove barriers so IU East students can focus on earning their degree, not worrying about their next meal.

At IU East, many students are balancing coursework with full-time jobs, long commutes, and caring for their families. For too many, food and basic needs insecurity are quiet but daily challenges. When a student is worried about groceries or household essentials, it becomes harder to concentrate in class, prepare for exams, or fully engage on campus.

Established in 2013 as the first regional food pantry among IU campuses, the IU East Food Pantry has grown into a vital, compassionate resource for students in need. What began as a modest food collection site is now a comprehensive hub of support — grounded in the belief that hunger is more than an empty bowl.

Today, the pantry stocks staples like pasta, rice, sauces, canned goods, and snacks to meet practical nutrition needs for students and often for the families who depend on them. But support goes far beyond food. The pantry also provides clothing, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and personal care items - everyday essentials that protect health, restore confidence, and allow students to show up prepared in the classroom and the workplace.

When you give, you are not just filling shelves. You are helping students build healthier, more stable lives so they can perform at their very best.
