Miles for Myeloma Fund

Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center

Support research and enhanced patient care for those living with myeloma, a rare blood cancer.

Additional Info

At the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, our sights are firmly set on finding a cure for multiple myeloma.

We are home to some of the top myeloma researchers in the world, and we’re closing in on the disease from multiple angles. Already, patients are living longer with fewer debilitating side effects. We want to push forward with research that allows patients to live with the certainty that their myeloma can be controlled—or even cured.

Leading the charge—and sometimes the pack of cyclists riding for a cure—is Rafat Abonour, MD, who goes to extraordinary distances for his patients. Each year, Abonour leads Miles for Myeloma, an event aimed at raising awareness and funds for the cause.

DISCLOSURE | Gifts to the Miles for Myeloma Fund at the IU Foundation support research at the IU School of Medicine and enhanced patient care at IU Health via the IU Health Foundation. Gifts and donor information will be shared with the IU Health Foundation.

Your giving matters

Rafat Abonour, MD

My patients never stop wanting to do the next thing—to go on vacation, to go see a grandson. Life is about that journey. And when you see somebody who has been able to accomplish that, it’s just an amazing reward. Our work at IU allows for that.

Rafat Abonour MD
