Additional Info

One of the ways this fund can help foster a sense of community at Collins is by providing several annual awards for current Collinsites, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • An annual retention award. This award can help active and involved sophomores, juniors, and seniors remain Collins residents so that they can carry on traditions, teach workshops, and assume leadership roles.
  • An award honoring an engaged freshman. This award recognizes a freshman Collinsite who has engaged in the community in multiple ways—either by joining various existing student groups, by developing new initiatives, by the completion of a thoughtful Q project that builds community at Collins, and/or by taking on a position of student leadership.
  • An award for significant community service contributions. This award recognizes a Collinsite who has made a stand-out contribution in volunteering/service to the Bloomington community beyond Collins LLC, honoring the legacy of former LLC director Carl Ziegler.

This fund is also used to support initiatives led by community members, such as the return of men's and women's Little 500 teams at Collins. Gifts to this fund may be used to support team registration, bike fees, uniform fees, and more.

Thank you for supporting this valuable and dynamic living-learning opportunity for IU students!

I am so glad to be a part of the Collins community and have the most wonderful time getting involved! I am the coordinator of the one and only Smitchen, as well as the Director of Sports & Recreation. My main goal is to organize Little 500 teams to bring that team spirit back to Collins! With the retention award, I will be able to stay in Collins and give it my all until I graduate, continuing to run a Little 500 team for as long as I am here and giving support to those who will hopefully continue it on after I graduate.
