The WPLC Fund is a collective giving fund that fosters support for innovative projects that advance the belief that all members of the IU community should have access to educational opportunities, excellent health care, a clean and safe environment, cultural enrichment through the arts, and services that enhance the pursuit of their academic careers. Grant applicants are expected to articulate how their projects will impact diverse constituents—not just women—and the ways in which outcomes will contribute to a more equitable and inclusive environment at IU and beyond.

Grants awarded through this fund have supported outcomes such as:

  • Providing eye care for 340+ low income preschool-aged children in Monroe County
  • Offering free, confidential counseling resources, providing aid to 260+ underserved IU students
  • Funding a pilot program providing leadership and career development for 1,000+ women through education, advocacy programming, and salary negotiation workshops, helping equip them with the tools needed to close the gender wage equity gap
  • Providing funding for a cross-collaborative initiative that encouraged undergraduate students from historically underrepresented populations to pursue social-change careers

These are just a sampling of the many diverse projects supported by the WPLC Fund over the years.

Total annual grant monies available to be awarded each year hinge on the total philanthropic support provided to the WPLC Fund. Because the WPLC only grants out what is raised each year, gifts of all size truly matter!

To our students, your gift is more than just money: It is upward mobility, a changing trajectory, an opportunity otherwise unavailable to so many. Thank you for believing in our cause and helping our students succeed.
