IU Medical School Annual Scholarship

IUSM Scholarships and Loans

Many health care challenges confront Indiana, but the biggest one might surprise you: Finding a physician is difficult for too many people. The solution is simple. Indiana University School of Medicine needs to train more physicians, especially those practicing in underserved communities.

While IU remains a chief pipeline of new physicians, our students—many of them Hoosiers—face a longstanding obstacle of their own: paying for medical school.

Additional Info

The School of Medicine consistently attracts top-tier applicants, but financial aid is often a deciding factor. Four-year aid packages are a key tool. Your support of scholarships enables us to expand the number of offers we can make and helps us keep more in-state students here in Indiana. We also use scholarships to recognize fourth-year students who have excelled in the classroom, clinic, and lab.

One in three medical students currently receives some support, but the school can only meet 10 percent of need annually. Through your contributions, we can help more deserving students. We appreciate your generosity!

Your giving matters

Jay L. Hess, Dean of the IU School of Medicine

You’re not just investing in students but in the state’s health as a whole. About half of Indiana’s physicians attended IU School of Medicine or completed training here. With our efforts and your generosity, we can grow more doctors to fill needs across the state—from rural farm towns to urban centers like Indianapolis and Fort Wayne.

Jay L. Hess, MD, PhD, MHSA Dean, IU School of Medicine
