The IU South Bend Libraries employ 25–30 students every year. These students are essential to maintaining our services, collections, and operations. In addition, student employment on campus is a high-impact practice that fosters students’ sense of belonging, retention, and success.

Income from gifts to this endowed fund will be used to support undergraduate and graduate scholarships for student employees at the IU South Bend Library, rewarding those who are excellent employees and scholars.

The Michele C. Russo Library Student Worker Scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has worked in the IU South Bend Library for three semesters and excels in their studies and work. Michele Russo was Dean of the IU South Bend Libraries from 1998-2010. The scholarship in her name was established by her husband, the late Dr. John Russo, Professor Emeritus of Computer Science, in honor of her years of service to IU South Bend.
