Additional Info
Joe and Sarah Ellen Mamlin have been a lifeline of compassion and healing to thousands—in Kenya, in Indiana, and around the world. During their 20 years in Kenya, they poured their hearts into improving the quality of life for others, giving not only their time and expertise, but also their love and presence.
They led with care and hope. They believed deeply and unwaveringly in people. Rather than leading from podiums, they served at patients’ bedsides, along dusty village paths, and in quiet conversations with those the world too often overlooks.
Their support—drawn from their own salaries and strengthened by the generosity of others—was grounded in a simple truth: Every person deserves the chance to live a life of health, hope, and dignity. Even when the Mamlins' gestures were humble in size, their impact was profound and life-changing.
To honor this extraordinary legacy, the Joe and Sarah Ellen Mamlin AMPATH Humanitarian Fund was established as a living tribute—one that will continue to serve people in Kenya and beyond by providing direct, meaningful support to those with the greatest need.
This endowed fund:
- Provides lifesaving care for the most fragile patients, including medical tests, medications, food assistance, transportation to clinical care, and other urgent needs.
- Shelters homeless orphans and vulnerable children by supporting AMPATH’s Amani Shelter, which provides a safe home, education, emotional support, and a sense of belonging. The shelter was lovingly nurtured by Joe and Sarah Ellen for many years.
- Meets other critical needs as they arise.
By giving to the Mamlin AMPATH Humanitarian Fund, you become a steward of this legacy—extending compassion to the most fragile among us who are still waiting for help. Thank you for your generous support.
Your giving matters
Humanitarian support is often the difference between hope and despair—or in some cases, between life and death.
