Additional Info

The Michael O. Koch Chair in Urology honors Michael O. Koch, MD, a surgeon and educator at Indiana University School of Medicine.

In 1998, Koch became chair of the Department of Urology. Under his leadership, the department grew from a small group into a nationally recognized program. The number of faculty members more than doubled, and urology expanded to offer new technologies and treatments. Koch guided significant advances in minimally invasive and robotic surgeries for bladder and prostate cancer, helping patients recover faster and live longer.

This chair honors Dr. Koch’s many contributions to the treatment of bladder and prostate cancer and all that he did to advance the mission of the department and the school. Income generated from gifts to this fund supports a full-time faculty member who continues Koch’s dedication to research, education, and patient care.

Gifts to the Michael O. Koch Chair in Urology ensure that IU remains a leader in urologic innovation. Your support helps doctors and researchers develop new treatments, train future urologists, and advance patient care in Indiana and beyond.
