IU School of Medicine–Fort Wayne is home to more than 80 students who engage in four years of medical instruction, as well as clerkships through two major hospital systems in the area. Its medical education building, located on the campus of Purdue University Fort Wayne, is equipped for both clinical learning and translational research, with involvement from more than 400 practicing physicians from the surrounding community.
Research areas include work in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and stroke. Students have opportunities to do research with faculty. They can also sign up for intensive study in a “scholarly concentration” in Health Integration and Healthy Aging, which focuses on improving outcomes while reducing the cost of health care for patients.
