Additional Info
At Indiana University School of Medicine, the Department of Ophthalmology prepares future eye doctors to provide the best possible care for patients. The residency program gives doctors hands-on experience in patient care, surgery, research, and global health.
Residents train at multiple hospital sites, including Riley Hospital for Children, Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital, Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, and IU Health Methodist Hospital. They learn to diagnose and treat a wide range of eye diseases while gaining real-world experience in clinical and surgical settings.
In addition to daily patient care, residents take part in lectures, conferences, and research projects. They explore new ways to treat eye diseases and present their findings at national meetings. The program also includes global health experiences, where residents provide eye care and education in communities around the world.
Gifts to the Ophthalmology Resident Education Fund support these important activities. Donations help provide advanced training tools, educational resources, opportunities for professional development, and more. They also fund travel for global health rotations and support research that strengthens both medical knowledge and patient outcomes.
Your gift helps IU School of Medicine continue to educate skilled, compassionate ophthalmologists who are ready to care for patients in Indiana and beyond. Thank you for your support!
