Additional Info
At Indiana University School of Medicine, the Division of Infectious Diseases studies and treats illnesses caused by viruses, bacteria, and other germs. These include well-known diseases like HIV and malaria, as well as new infections that threaten communities everywhere. The division’s doctors and scientists work together to find better ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat these diseases.
For more than 50 years, IU researchers have led major clinical trials to test new medicines, vaccines, and diagnostic tools. Their work has led to lifesaving discoveries—such as faster tests for infections, and vaccines that prevent serious diseases. With more than 40 faculty members and vital partnerships around the globe, IU’s infectious disease program continues to grow.
Gifts to this fund help researchers launch new projects, purchase cutting-edge lab equipment, support studies that advance discoveries from the lab into real-world care, and more. Donations also help the division train medical students, residents, and fellows who will become the next generation of infectious disease doctors and scientists.
From Indiana to Kenya, IU teams are making a difference. They work with hospitals and communities to stop the spread of infection, improve treatments, and save lives. Your support helps IU turn research into action—protecting people everywhere from today and tomorrow’s infectious diseases.
