Additional Info

The IU East Campus Library supports vibrant academic enrichment and creative exploration. Not only do we provide a comfortable and accessible space to work and rest for the whole community, we also curate and maintain scholarly resources (including database collections, books, and streaming media) to meet the needs of our academic programs, individual students, and faculty researchers.

One example of the impact of your support is the maintenance and development of our Makerspace, which is a collaborative workspace that provides tools and technology for people to design, create, and learn through hands-on activities. It's more than just fun; it teaches users how to incorporate purpose, audience, and design principles into their creative and academic work. Students use the Makerspace in a multitude of ways, from creating product prototypes for business classes to crafting themed items for campus events. As more students continue to work with our tools, they discover even more reasons to use the space, and the library in general!

The library also collaborates regularly with faculty and students on class projects, such as hosting historical exhibits and in-depth research sessions. We are deeply involved in campus and community events such as Randolph County Promise, Richmond Early Admit Day, and Crime Camp. Additionally, the library supports campus programming by providing tangible items such as books for Mindful Exploration talks and supplies for Constitution Day.

We routinely evolve our services by responding to requests for materials and activities that support student success and wellbeing, such as hosting regular game nights and developing a popular reading collection. We also provide engaging programs for the whole community, like our local expert lecture series, which supports faculty scholarship and professional development.

These are just a few examples of the many ways gifts enable the IU East Campus Library to continue serving the community and growing as needs expand. Your engagement with us—and your financial support at any level of giving—strengthens our mission and allows us to provide consistently excellent, dynamic service to everyone in our community. Thank you for supporting us in our work, and we invite you to visit!

Your giving matters

The IU East Library is one of the most welcoming and useful places on campus. It gives students a calm, quiet space to study, focus, and get work done, while still feeling comfortable and supported. The flexible hours make it easier for students to fit study time into their busy schedules, and the amazing library staff are always kind, helpful, and willing to point students in the right direction. The library is not just a place for books; it is a place where students can feel encouraged, prepared, and connected. One of my favorite things about the IU East Library is how many opportunities it offers beyond studying. The game nights help students relax, meet new people, and enjoy campus life, while the Makerspace gives students a chance to be creative in meaningful ways. I have used every machine in the Makerspace for creative projects, my podcast, and work connected to the admissions team. The library truly has something for everyone.
