The generous donors who created this endowed scholarship are Dr. Karen Jackson Gould, EdD’86, and Richard D. Gould, MS'78. Karen was a student within the Educational Leadership doctoral program at IU Bloomington’s School of Education and went on to positively impact everyone around her through her leadership. She was named Indiana Principal of the Year and a National Distinguished Principal. She also was a district-level administrator, adjunct instructor in the IU Urban Principals Program, president of the IU School of Education Alumni Board, and chair of the Indiana University School Administrators Association.

Richard was also an educator, teaching both French and Spanish. In his career, he received the Noble of Indiana and the ARC awards for his teaching.

Both Karen and Richard’s careers show a legacy of greatness and the power of transformational leadership. With these legacies in mind, Richard and Karen hope the recipients of this scholarship aspire for greatness in all their endeavors.
