This endowed fund provides support for internship experiences—especially unpaid internships—for undergraduate students majoring in political science at IU Bloomington’s College of Arts and Sciences. Income from gifts to this fund may be used to help defray the cost of travel, housing, and other expenses incurred during an internship.

In their long careers at Indiana University, Christine Barbour and Gerald Wright have both made a significant impact on the Department of Political Science as teachers, researchers, and authors.

Barbour earned her BA, MA, and PhD through IU’s political science department. She has been teaching at IU since 1990, instructing countless students in classes ranging in subject matter from American and European politics to the politics of food and sustainability.

Gerald Wright, professor emeritus and former chair of the political science department, earned his PhD in 1973 from the University of North Carolina. Since joining IU’s faculty in 1980, Wright has been a mentor to many graduate students. He has also served as program director for political science at the National Science Foundation.
