The IU Libraries Student Employee Leadership Development Program Fund was created to encourage the development of student employees’ leadership skills. This fund is primarily used by graduate students to help offset the cost of attending professional conferences coordinated by such organizations as the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, the Medical Library Association, the Music Library Association, and more specific conferences including International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres, Art Libraries Society of North America, and Society of American Archivists.

Many of IU Libraries’ employees who are earning their Master of Library Science present posters and research at these conferences with their mentors from IU Libraries. These experiences are transformative events, preparing graduates for an interconnected world. Attending professional conferences provides opportunities for networking, research presentations, career advice from experts, and career connections. One recipient stated, “I was able to see the connection between what I am learning in classes and what I will be doing once I graduate.”

Gifts to this fund can also support special classes, certifications, workshops, resume-building and interview programs, and more. Thank you for helping today’s student employees become the confident, prepared professionals of tomorrow!
