- Education and professional development programs for Union Board, like travel to the Sundance Film Festival to identify films and speakers to bring to campus, to the International Entertainment Buyers Association to learn about the music industry and make connections that can lead to shows on campus, and the ACUI conference
- The Union Board Alumni Biennial Reunion
- Special one-time purchases and services to support Union Board
The John Whittenberger Society was created by Union Board alumni more than 40 years ago to support the Indiana Memorial Union and Union Board. Students created the Union nearly 116 years ago, and they still play a leadership role in programming for the campus and guiding the direction of the IMU itself. Being on Union Board is foundational to the IU experience for many Union Board directors, assistant directors, and committee members, and in turn they create programs that help make the IU experience special for thousands of students every year. The John Whittenberger Society seeks to preserve and enhance the wonderful experience that the Union Board and the IMU provide to the student body.
