In a state built on racing innovation, IU Luddy students are driving what’s next.
The IU Luddy Autonomous Vehicle Racing Fund supports students across Bloomington and Indianapolis as they create fully autonomous racecars for national competitions. This hands-on experience brings together students from a variety of Luddy disciplines to push the limits of artificial intelligence and real-time decision-making.
Autonomous racecars operate at extreme speeds and demand software with even greater precision. Racing depends not only on speed, but accuracy, with razor-thin margins separating victory from a catastrophic crash.
“If something works in a race car,” says IU Luddy Team Lead Durgakant Pushp, a fourth-year Intelligent Systems Engineering Ph.D. student, “it’s close to being transferred to society.”
In other words, what students build on the track today helps shape the future of autonomous technology tomorrow.
Your gift fuels the technology, equipment, travel, and competition costs that make this experience possible, all while giving Luddy students the collaborative, real-world experience that launches careers.
And for this year only, your gift can get even more mileage!
In honor of the Luddy School’s 25th anniversary, all gifts will be matched dollar for dollar up to $15,000 while funds remain thanks to a generous Luddy donor’s belief in our students.
To celebrate IU Day’s 10th anniversary, all first-time IU donors who give $25–$500 will also have their gift matched. Ten first-time donors will be selected at random to unlock an additional $1,000 for the fund they support.
That means your generous gift of any amount could be doubled, or even multiplied. Don’t miss your chance to help us reach the finish line!
