The future of criminal justice is being shaped right here in Columbus.
Every day, IU Columbus students are preparing for careers that will make a difference in our communities. And these aren't just future professionals in the abstract. IU Columbus criminal justice students and graduates are already working within our local criminal justice system. Now, we have an opportunity to help the next generation follow in their footsteps.
A recent survey of IU Columbus criminal justice students found that about half work at least part time to help pay for school. For these students, earning a degree isn't simply about going to class. They're balancing coursework with jobs, family responsibilities, and the financial realities of earning a college degree. A scholarship can give a student something incredibly valuable: more time and breathing room to focus on their education and prepare for the career they've chosen.
IU Columbus offers a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice that provides students with a broad understanding of the history, operations, policies, and implications of criminal justice in America. Students can explore areas including policing, courts, corrections, criminal law, criminological theory, research, juvenile justice, terrorism, and cybercrime.
The program also connects students with opportunities to gain experience beyond the classroom. IU Columbus's Cadet Officer Program, for example, allows students to work with a law enforcement agency while earning their degree.
When you support the Criminal Justice Scholarship, you aren't simply helping someone pay a tuition bill. You're investing in a student, their future and the future of our community.
