Supporting IU Columbus Student Affairs means investing in the programs, resources and experiences that help our students feel connected, supported and ready to succeed.
More Info
The IU Columbus Office of Student Affairs is committed to supporting the whole student and creating a campus where every student has opportunities to connect, get involved, find support and build a sense of belonging. From student programming and campus traditions to diversity initiatives, wellness activities and everyday resources, Student Affairs helps create the experiences that make IU Columbus feel like a community, not simply a place to take classes. Your support provides flexible funding that allows Student Affairs to respond to the needs and priorities of our students and campus community.
One example is the IU Columbus Pride Pantry, which is celebrating its 10th year! What began as a single shelf in a room in the CC Building has grown into a welcoming resource serving IU Columbus students, faculty and staff, members of the AirPark campus and community members. Students might stop by for a snack between classes, pick up something they forgot to bring for lunch, or gather groceries and personal care items to help support themselves or their households. For one IU Columbus student and mom, the Pantry has been especially meaningful. She shared how grateful she has been to find essentials like milk and fresh fruit for her young children, helping stretch her family's grocery budget while also saving valuable time.
Today, Pride Pantry is overseen by Director of Student Affairs Rachel Hunt with the help of IU Columbus student workers who work hard to make everyone feel welcome and reduce the stigma that can come with asking for support. A partnership with Gleaners Food Bank has also expanded what the Pantry can offer, including fresh produce, dairy and eggs. The Pantry is just one example of the many ways Student Affairs shows up for our students. A gift to the IU Columbus Office of Student Affairs provides valuable general support for the programs, resources and priorities that help our students thrive.
